Tickets have been secured before the last minute panic on gumtree. Weather forecasts have been googled, refreshed and analysed until they reveal that longed for glimpse of sunshine. Outfits have been bought, returned, swapped, and DIY-ed until finally settling on the one, equal part comfortable and equal part festival queen – tie-dye and bumbags and glitter and flowers and fishnets. Wheely bins & wheelbarrows full of ‘lovely cans’. A festival playlist on Spotify and a buzzing group chat on whatsapp – festival season is upon us.

It is a truly wonderful feeling approaching a music festival with friends and strangers alike, sun shining and drinks flowing. Whether it be the infamous Burning Man in the Black Rock desert, the more intimate Body & Soul in Ballinlough Castle, or every young Irish persons “best weekend of the year!” at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, a venue is so beautifully brought to life with the colour and enthusiasm of festival goers as they enter their musical playground to escape reality for a little while.

Bands singing and djs bopping, ferris wheel rides and plastic cups full of sticky cider. Lying in the grass, skipping around aimlessly, abandoning your perfectly timed schedule as well as your no longer important cares. New friends made, old friends found. Massive highs outweighing little lows. Dancing in the rain and falling into your inflatable camp bed full of beer, happiness and new memories.

Festival season – the most magical time of the year ✨

“We dance for laughter, we dance for tears, we dance for madness, we dance for fears, we dance for hopes, we dance for screams, we are the dancers, we create the dreams.” (Albert Einstein)
